Please give the English name and publishing details of the book with the above figures on NKVD arrests etc.
There is no English name since the book hasn't been translated, a transliteration of the name is "Stalingradskaya Epopiya" produced in Moscow in 2000, publisher is "Zvonnetsa - MG."
It's interesting that there was no figures for the months of August and September,to actually take for fact the numbers that the NKVD "published"I would have to say nyet!
I'm sorry, do you have facts and/or figures that contradict this document?
Thanks for the quick reply,I'm questioning the validity of the document,again,Why no figures for the first months of the battle?Do you honestly think that the NKVD is going to publish "actual" #'s of deserter's or men that were shot or arrested for retreating,it's never been a wise thing to do when in the Soviet Union or Russia,to ever post or reveal anything that might be construed as a weakness or damaging,or any short coming to the "Motherland".Quite obviously the document exists,all I was pointing out was I do not trust the numbers.With the quantity of books you have read surely you yourself must have a little doubt to the numbers.
The document comes from the archives which were not for always for public consumption. If you do not have evidence that contradicts it then there is no real reason to distrust these numbers.
